Question 1

What racing intelligence does TBredIQ publish for Colonial Downs?

Accepted Answer

For every Colonial Downs card, TBredIQ publishes an 8-signal IQ-Score ranking for every runner — covering speed, class, pace fit, form cycle, connections (trainer and jockey), workouts, trip history, and pedigree fit. Each card also includes a projected pace shape, post-position bias context, and any active pari-mutuel carryover pools. Content is updated each race day. Analysis only: TBredIQ explains the race; it never includes stake sizing.

Question 2

What is the TBredIQ IQ Score?

Accepted Answer

The IQ Score is a 0-100 composite of 8 handicapping signals for a single runner: speed (adjusted for surface and distance), class level, projected pace fit, form cycle (recency and direction of recent performances), connections quality (trainer and jockey pairing), workout pattern, trip trouble history, and pedigree fit for the surface and distance. A higher IQ Score means more signals align in that runner's favor on this specific card. It is an analytical summary, not a bet recommendation.

Question 3

How accurate is TBredIQ's analysis across North American racing?

Accepted Answer

Across 4,933 North American thoroughbred races in 2026, TBredIQ's top-ranked horse finished in the money (top 3) in 61.7% of races, compared to 37.8% for a randomly chosen horse. The actual winner appeared in TBredIQ's three-horse shortlist in 63.7% of races. This is an ordering-quality measure: the engine is effective at identifying competitive horses, but pari-mutuel takeout means no systematic predictive approach generates positive betting returns at scale. TBredIQ's value is as an independent analytical lens.

Question 4

What is a pari-mutuel carryover and why does TBredIQ track them for Colonial Downs?

Accepted Answer

A pari-mutuel carryover occurs when no ticket holds the winning combination in a multi-race wager (Pick 4, Pick 5, Pick 6), so the pool rolls over to the next racing day. On a carryover day, the money that carried over is not subject to the normal takeout percentage in that cycle — making it the one structurally positive-expected-value situation in pari-mutuel racing. TBredIQ tracks all active carryover pools across North American tracks every race day, including Colonial Downs.

Question 5

What is pace shape and how does TBredIQ project it?

Accepted Answer

Pace shape describes the projected early-fraction flow of a race. Lone speed (one dominant front-runner) tends to favor the leader; a contested pace (two or more horses fighting for the front) often produces a speed duel that favors closers. TBredIQ projects pace shape from each runner's race history, combined with the card's post-position draw and the track's surface tendencies, to produce a race-level pace rating included in every card.
